Exam History
The Certified Internet Webmaster (CIW) exam, also called the CIW Foundations exam, was first available soon after May 1999 via www.ciwcertified.com.
Since that time, the CIW certification program has emerged as one of the top recognized industry-standard job
role certifications for Internet technologies.
Exam Overview
The Certified Internet Webmaster (CIW) exam, validates the basic hands-on skills
and knowledge that a professional is expected to understand and use. Foundational skills include basic knowledge of Internet
technologies, network infrastructure, Web authoring using XHTML, and job skills such as project management.
The CIW Foundations certification is ideal for all professionals who use the Internet. This prerequisite certification
is also required for all levels of specialization in the CIW program. CIW Associates have mastered the common core of
Internet knowledge, and apply these foundational skills to further specialization.
The exam contains 85 questions. Examinees have 90 minutes to complete the exam. To pass this exam you must achieve
a total score of 63% or greater. Each multiple-choice item offers four solutions or distracters. Exam candidates must
select the one best solution for each item. After passing the CIW Foundations exam, candidates are eligible for CIW
Associate status.
CIW Courses:
The CIW courses are those courses that directly prepare students to pass the CIW Foundations exam.
CIW Assessment/Practice Exams:
WOW Academy offers a
CIW Assessment exam. The cost of the CIW Assessment exam is $10 for students taking WOW Academy courses
and $20 for those students not needing to take WOW Academy courses.
Taking the Exam:
This is a proctored exam which must be attempted at a CIW
authorized testing centers.
Exam Cost:
The cost of the CIW certification exam is $125.
